who are teen ambassadors?

The Teen Ambassadors Program is an initiative dedicated to empowering trained teenagers to educate their peers about mental health and suicide prevention. This program addresses the critical need for mental health awareness and support among adolescents aged 10 to 18 right here in the Roanoke Valley. The primary goal of the Teen Ambassadors Program is to educate teenagers about mental health, reducing stigma, and fostering an open dialogue surrounding these critical issues.

qualifications & responsibilities

Our Teen Ambassadors consist of high schoolers across the Roanoke Valley, including Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Salem, Franklin County and Botetourt.
We value inclusion and encourage teens of all backgrounds, sexuality, ability, race, ethnicity, gender and age to apply.
We meet once a month at the Jefferson Center to discuss our current agenda and upcoming events.
There is also one additional committee meeting a month.
Ambassadors commit to volunteering about 4-5 hours per month. There are many optional opportunities that Ambassadors can sign up for depending on their availability.
Teen Ambassadors are representatives of Tudor House in the community, demonstrating leadership, inclusion, and understanding of mental health advocacy. They also learn vital skills while participating in one of 3 Teen Ambassador Committees: Outreach, Events, and Marketing.
Teen Ambassadors spearhead outreach events, like inviting friends to a Paint Day or hosting an awareness night at Rail Yard Dawgs Hockey. They also volunteer at local events, such as Mental Health Awareness Days at our schools, the Blue Ridge Marathon, and our Annual Big Kahuna held in August.
